Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information freelancebid collects when you submit a listing, place a bid, or browse the leaderboard at freelancebid.lol, and how that information is used. freelancebid does not require account registration, so most of what we hold relates to listings and payments rather than personal user profiles.

Information you give us directly

• Listing details: the profile URL or @handle you submit, chosen platform, service categories, availability, and hourly rate band.
• Payment information: processed entirely by our payment provider, Polar. We receive confirmation of payment and amount, but do not collect or store your full card details.
• Ownership verification data: if you choose to verify a listing, we generate a verification token tied to your listing key and check for its presence on the linked profile.

Information collected automatically or from public sources

• Device and technical data: IP address and basic request metadata, used for rate limiting, fraud prevention, and click tracking on the /r/:publicId redirect.
• Public profile enrichment: if you opt in at checkout, we fetch publicly available information from the platform your listing links to (e.g. display name, headline, rating, review count, avatar) to display alongside your listing.

We collect and use this information solely to:

• Operate the leaderboard — display listings, ranks, and totals
• Process payments for leaderboard placement via Polar
• Verify listing ownership where you request it
• Prevent abuse and fraud (e.g. rate limiting, duplicate-payment protection)
• Measure click-through on listing redirects for the “clicks” count shown publicly

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build behavioural profiles of visitors.

The core mechanic of freelancebid is a public leaderboard. Listing details you submit — including your profile title, category, rank, total amount paid, and any enrichment data you consent to — are shown publicly to all visitors of the site. Do not submit information you do not want publicly visible.

We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We work with a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Polar — to process payments and handle payment webhooks
• Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers — to run the API and store listing data

We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

Listing and payment data is retained for as long as the listing remains relevant to the leaderboard, and thereafter as required for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes. To request removal of a listing you own, contact us with your listing key or proof of ownership at support@freelancebid.lol.

Depending on where you’re based, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate listing or profile data
• Request deletion of a listing you own
• Object to or restrict certain processing

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data we hold, including secure transmission and payment webhook signature verification. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

freelancebid is available to users worldwide. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the country where our infrastructure and service providers operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will always reflect the most recent revision.
