Legal
Terms of Service
Last updated August 25, 2026
Overview
freelancebid (“we,” “us”) operates a pay-to-rank leaderboard for freelancer profiles at freelancebid.lol (the “Service”). Anyone can submit a public freelancer profile URL or @handle, pay to claim a rank, and be outbid by a higher payment from another user. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use the Service, including making a payment.
No Accounts
The Service does not require account registration or login. Listings are managed through a listing key generated at checkout time, which you are responsible for keeping if you intend to update, verify, or re-bid on a listing later. We cannot recover a lost listing key on your behalf beyond what is technically possible from payment records.
Submitting a Listing
- You may submit any publicly accessible freelancer profile URL or @handle on a supported platform (currently Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, Contra, Toptal, PeoplePerHour, a personal website, or X).
- You represent that you either own the profile you submit, or that the profile is genuinely public information you are entitled to reference (e.g. researching a freelancer you may hire).
- We provide an optional ownership verification flow. Verified listings are marked accordingly; verification is not required to submit or bid on a listing.
- We reserve the right to remove any listing that is fraudulent, impersonates another person without basis, links to illegal content, or otherwise violates these Terms.
Bidding and Ranking
- Rank on the leaderboard is determined solely by the total USD amount paid toward a listing. There is no other ranking factor.
- A quoted price (including any “cost for rank #1”) is an estimate only and is not a reservation. Because other users may pay at any time, the price required to reach or hold a given rank can change before your payment completes.
- The amount you submit at checkout is your listing’s new total, not an incremental amount. We calculate any additional amount owed based on your listing’s current total at the time of payment.
- A new listing requires a minimum bid of $5. Raising an existing listing requires a bid of at least $1 more than its current total.
- Your rank updates only after we receive a signed, verified payment confirmation from our payment provider. It is not guaranteed to update immediately after you complete checkout.
Payments
- All payments are processed by Polar, a third-party payment provider. We do not collect or store your full payment card details.
- All amounts are in US dollars and represent a one-time payment to hold a rank on the leaderboard, not a subscription.
- All payments are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. Being outbid by another user does not entitle you to a refund — your listing remains on the board at whatever rank your total payment supports.
- If a payment is duplicated or charged in error due to a technical fault on our end, contact us and we will investigate in good faith.
Profile Data and Enrichment
With your consent at checkout, we may fetch additional public information from the platform your listing links to (such as display name, headline, rating, and avatar) to display alongside your listing. This data is sourced from publicly available profile pages and may become outdated (“stale”) over time. We do not guarantee its accuracy, and you should verify any information about a listed freelancer directly with them before making decisions based on it.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit a listing that impersonates a real person without a legitimate basis to reference them
- Submit content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or violates the rights of others
- Attempt to manipulate the leaderboard through fraudulent payments or chargebacks
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other listings or our systems
- Scrape, bulk-extract, or republish the leaderboard data at scale without permission
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications
We reserve the right to remove listings or restrict access that violates these Terms.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, branding, and underlying software, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand assets. You retain all rights to your own profile content; submitting a listing does not transfer ownership of it to us.
Third-Party Links
Listings link out to freelancer profiles on third-party platforms via a redirect. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, conduct, or availability of those third-party platforms or the individuals listed.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, and we do not vouch for the identity, skill, or reliability of any freelancer listed. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, freelancebid shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which freelancebid is registered [jurisdiction to be confirmed]. Any disputes will first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at support@freelancebid.lol.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
